A Country Garden
BRIEF:
Back of house - to rationalise area along the back of the house since the swimming pool cut across an existing rose border; to increase the area of paving outside the swimming pool to allow for table and chairs; and to provide easy to maintain planting for all-year-round interest doing away with existing annuals. Like Michaelmas daisies, catmint and lavender. Keen to include hardy perennials. A border of shrubs along the north-facing edge of the dry moat, to provide foliage for flower arrangements was also requested, and designed and implemented.
A Freeform Garden
BRIEF:
To introduce a pond for wildlife; increase width of border on south-facing side, retaining pear tree and planting up mainly with shrubs but using some perennials. To provide some screen of orchard at far end so that boundary is not immediately visible. To be a fairly low maintenance scheme with possibly increased winter interest.
A Geometrical Front Garden
BRIEF:
Redesign the front garden retaining the Magnolia soulangeana and flowering crab apple. Want a small lawn. Retain some privacy but allow some views out.

A Hospice Garden
BRIEF:
The architect for the scheme designed all the paved areas and raised beds and the designer was asked to design the planting for all the borders including the courtyard. Maintenance was to be carried out by a team of volunteers.

A Small Office Development
BRIEF:
To improve the look of the courtyard whilst providing access to the front doors, the lefthand side in summer the righthand side in winter. Also to provide access to the other office and back of the shop. To retain a 2m access to the back of the shop for maintenance. To mask the wheeled dustbins. Would like to use cobbles/setts/bricks but probably above budget. Low maintenance.

A Town Garden
BRIEF:
Looking for new ideas to ‘ginger up’ the garden, open to suggestions. The wife quite keen on design aspects and the shape of the garden from the balcony. Quite keen on paths. Honey fungus present in the woodland area. Would like to screen some of the school buildings in winter. Grass growth is poor under the trees, make beds to incorporate these. Want to widen planting borders on both sides of the garden and to keep a path at the back of the garden for access to compost bins.
