Stansfeld Garden Design offers a comprehensive service of garden design for private individuals as well as landscape design for commercial properties. We interpret your requirements and understand the unique possibilities of your site.

Design services are provided throughout the UK and the process includes:

Initial site meeting and Client briefing
The object of this first meeting is for the Client to discuss with the Designer their requirements for the garden, to formulate a brief and for the Designer to view the site and display a portfolio of work. Following this initial meeting the Designer submits a written quotation for survey and design works, which if agreed on by the Client, should be confirmed in writing
Site survey including levels
A measured site survey follows including recording changes of level and information is drawn up as a survey plan. Photographs are taken to aid the Designer and as a useful ‘before’ record.
Sketch plan + visit to discuss plan
A broad brush layout plan is produced and this is taken to discuss with the Client. Areas of planting are shown but not detailed at this stage. Any major alterations to the design are made at this stage.
Detail design plan
An accurate, to scale, layout plan including spot heights. On smaller projects this may include planting design. Plans may be coloured if the Client requests this.
3-D drawings or sketches
More visual detail of the proposed design can be drawn on request.
Planting plans and schedules
These are often drawn at a larger scale than layout plans and show plant positions and spacing. The plant schedule lists plants with pot sizes and plant heights.
Construction drawings
Detailed drawings which provide information required for the building of garden structures.
Specifications
These documents complement the Detail Design plan, Construction Drawings, Planting plans and Plant schedules and contain information required by the Contractor to quote on an equal basis with a competitor, and to implement the scheme.
Setting out plans
These can be produced to aid the Contractor in transferring the paper plan on to the ground.
Overseeing recommended Contractors
The Designer is in a position to recommend local, experienced Contractors to implement all types of schemes, and will oversee implementation on site by making periodic visits.
Consultancy visits
In addition to the above stages of the design process we can make Consultancy visits to a site to offer verbal advice and, if requested, a written report with accompanying photographic images or sketches.
Plant management and maintenance notes
These can also be provided giving cultural details such as pruning, feeding etc.
